On 20 April 2007 the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, Miloon Kothari, visited the Kennedy Road settlement where Abahlali baseMjondolo, the Landless People s Movement and the Pietermartizburg Flat Dwellers Movement made presentations to him. The AbM presenters were 3 women and 1 man and they were elected to represent the movement from settlements in Durban, Pinetown and Pietermartizburg. After the presentations the Rapporteur went up the hill for a site visit at the Foreman Road Settlement before returning for a quick lunch at Kennedy Road. With the mud from Foreman Road still on his shoes he went off to visit the city s Housing Department.
