The municipal security destroyed 4 homes while the occupants were away at work. The justification - 'they didn't have numbers'. One man lost R700 in the demolition. This is the first demolition in an Abahlali settlement since the council security were forced out of Motala Heights in December 2006. The Foreman Road Development Committee will determine a course of action after a mass meeting.

The pictures were below were taken as people gathered round their smashed homes in shock and then, as Mnikelo, Zodwa and Philani (Star) arrived, planned the mass meeting in the settlement to decide on a response. It was a dark, cold winter night.
