A statement of solidarity from the United Food and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe

WHAT IS CRIMINAL? Demanding social justice is not criminal.

Free THEM NOW! Free Comrade Bonono Now! Free Comrade Miya!

What is criminal is defending and sustaining the hegemony of the capitalist vampires. Criminals are the capitalists and their managers.

The demand and fight for shelter, for land, for dignity is a fundamental human right.

Arresting or persecuting the messengers of the landless people fighting for their naturally and globally given rights should be viewed as an attack directed not just to the conscious brave Comrades but the entire working-class of South Africa, the continent and internationally. It’s a class attack. It’s an attack directed to the continued existence of the people’s movement and any other people’s movement whose objective is to replace the system of greedy with a socialist society. It’s an attack against organising from below. It’s an attack against pro-working class economic planning alternative.

Thus, as the United Food and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe, UFAWUZ, we put ourselves at the same stand with our persecuted class brothers and demand their immediate unconditional release from the capitalists gulags.

We call upon the South African government not to create unnecessary sideshows and start attending to real issues that are material to the upliftment of the standards of living, of the landless people of South Africa.

FREE THEM NOW! DROP THE TRUMPED UP CHARGES! HANDS OFF Abahlali baseMJONDOLO!
