Despite Repression our Movement Continues to Grow
Our movement successfully held two events in two different provinces on Heritage Day. The Thuli Ndlovu Lecture took place in both Durban in KwaZulu-Natal and in Tembisa in Gauteng. The events were well attended.
This keynote lecture in Gauteng was delivered at the Zikode Village Occupation by Bathabile Makhoba, and in KwaZulu-Natal the lecture was delivered at the YMCA Hall in Durban by Thapelo Mohapi.
The Thuli Ndlovu lecture takes place every year to honour those who have fallen at the hands of the ANC. Thuli Ndlovu was assassinated in 2014 by two ANC ward councillors who hired a hitman to carry out their dirty work.
Thuli Ndlovu was assassinated for opposing the corruption that took place in Ward 12, in Kwandengezi in Durban. The two ANC ward councillors who are now serving life imprisonment were involved in corruption in the allocation of houses. Houses that were meant to be allocated for the poor were sold by these councillors.
The killing did not stop with Thuli Ndlovu and this year’s lectures focused on the murders that took place this year. We have lost four activists and leaders this year. One was murdered by a masked police officer and the other three was murdered by assassins. They were all activists who fought for the access for land for the poor in this country. Their lives were cut short and their families were robbed of their parents, siblings and children because there are who are out there who do not want to see the poor liberated.
We continue the struggle for liberation.
