March Against the Separation Wall in Cape Town
Today thousands of people are marching in the street of Cape Town against the building of a separation wall that repeats the logic of apartheid spatial segregation.
The City of Cape Town continues to entrench neo-apartheid laws in post apartheid South Africa by building a wall that segregates and hides the poor from the rich along the N2.
This wall is sign that the City of Cape Town under the Democratic Alliance does not recognise the poor, who are black in particular. The DA has always introduced and favoured laws that are anti-poor and anti-black.
Abahlali baseMjondolo supports the struggles of the people of Cape Town who continue to face segregation and racism under the DA led municipality. We support the march that is taking place today against this act of hatred and undermining of the poor in Khayeltsha, Langa, Dunoon and Gugulethu and Mitchels Plain. We will not support neo-apartheid segregation.
