Hugo Blanco: Land or Death

Land or Death by Hugo Blanco recounts the land occupations and peasant uprisings in Peru in the early 1960s from the perspective of one of their central leaders. The book describes how Quechua peasants organised unions, refused unpaid labour for landlords, occupied the land they worked, and developed armed self-defence. It combines first-hand narrative with political analysis of agrarian struggle, peasant organisation, revolutionary strategy and socialism.
