Press Alert: City of Cape Town caught dumping food instead of giving it to homeless Delft resident
March 4, 2008
Delft, Cape Town. A few days ago, a number of Delft Pavement Dwellers who have been living on Symphony Way for the past two weeks were in a taxi on Stellenbosch Arterial on the way back from work. They happened to see some of the coordinators for HDI Support, the NGO working on relief for the City of Cape Town, dumping 4 or 5 giant pots of food into the bush.
Residents of Symphony Way are extremely upset about this because they feel that food provided by HDI Support in Section 1 (which supports the DA) should be shared with the pavement dwellers on Symphony Way. Instead, the City of Cape Town has a grudge against Symphony Way Pavement Dwellers because of their support for the Anti-Eviction Campaign and is now refusing to provide any relief to residents of Symphony Way.
Homeless pavement dwellers along with the Anti-Eviction Campaign denounce the DA controlled City of Cape Town for their political games and selfishness. For proof of food dumping, see pictures of the dumping here and call 0761861408 for comment.
