For Motala Heights
How hard must one scream when injustice
is committed with the support of those
who are supposed to stand up
against injustice?
Has humanity’s conscience been
eradicated? What happened to the voices which
were nurtured in Robben Islands?
What makes them so quiet today?
Is it that so many injustices have been committed
with impunity that punishment
of the poorest of the poor
has become the law of
the richest of the rich?
And to be done using
Legal Aid services meant
for the poorest of the poor?
Is it that the richest of the rich
have become so powerful
that they have decided to treat
the poorest of the poor as
non existent?
Surely you shall be able to
find at least one lawyer whose
senses have not been completely
blunted by a post-apartheid regime
seemingly having lost its moral compass
AND
bent on eradicating the poor through
a final solution in disguise
Is it the case that in Motala Heights
one is witnessing now the spread of the Gaza solution
putting people under conditions
which would suffocate most people
bombing them with eviction notices
chasing them
out of Motala Heights
out of existence
out of humanity
out of sight
out of memory
out of mind
out of the way
paving the way
cleansing the way
leaving nothing
for the hyenas and vultures
because the Govenders
with help from
legal aid
are on their way
to becoming
hyenas
and
vultures
