2nd week (a call for Madikizela to step down as MEC for human settlement continue

Tomorrow: 19th April 2011

Place: Cape Town

Start point: Keizerngracht street, Cape Town (next to CPUT) (10: am)

Tomorrow the 19th April the call for Madikizela MEC for human settlement to step down as MEC continues, this follows a failure from him and his office to sign an undertaking that he will not ever again demolish people's structure or evict people within the Western Cape province without any order from the court.

This call by Abahlali baseMjondolo follows number of illegal evictions and demolitions carried by the provincial human settlement department, led by Madikizela.

Last week Abahlali baseMjondolo Western Cape staged number of protest in front housing department where we were calling on Madikizela to sign an undertaking or resign, as a results of number of protest his department last week Thursday promised to consult with it's head of litigation with a view to draft a letter then after present it to Madikizela to sign it and they promised to deliver the letter into our office no later than last week Friday.

into our surprise the letter has not yet delivered into our office, as a results of that tomorrow again we are protesting in front of the housing depart to demand a signed letter by Madikizela or to call on him to resign and tomorrow's protest will be lead by Gugulethu Anti-eviction Campaign.
