Murder suspect held
April 24, 2007 Edition 3
A sixth member of the shack dwellers’ organisation, Abahlali baseMjondolo, was arrested yesterday morning in connection with the murder of a suspected mugger in February, in what the organisation is calling a deliberate attempt to further destabilise the movement.

It might be a coincidence that 5 of the 6 people arrested for the death, just outside police custody after an ‘escape’ from the cells after a week in police custody, of Mzwakhe Sithole, just happen to be from the 12 person Kennedy Road Development Committee elected by the 7 000 residents of the settlement. But what are the odds?
Yesterday Mondli Mbiko, the 5th K.R.D.C. member and the 6th Kennedy Road resident to be arrested following the death in police custody of Mzwakhe Sithole was released on R5 000.00 bail. He wasn’t assaulted or insulted while in detention. Clearly Nayager has learnt something from his recent experiences. However it was made clear to Mondli that the remaining members of the K.R.D.C. will all be arrested shortly.
