Statement of solidarity from Kambale Musavuli, a comrade from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A statement of solidarity from Kambale Musavuli, a comrade of ours from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A brother and friend in South Africa has been arrested on false charges. His name is Comrade Bonono. He is a very humble man, always there for not just South Africans but all humanity. I remember evening discussions with him in a few countries around the world we connected. He shared with me stories on how his movement, Abahlali baseMjondolo, protected Congolese families during the xenophobic attacks in SA. Very often, they would sleep outside the house of Congolese families to protect them… and this would go on for days and sometimes weeks.

It saddens me that the South African state will go after him and our comrades at AbM, one of the biggest shack dwellers movements on the African continent with over 85,000 members.

We stand with you brother Bonono… we stand with AbM… and we call on our allies to raise the alarm around these attacks on our people fighting for a just world!

To friends and allies with political means to pressure the South African government, please enquire in your appropriate channels and pressure for the release of Cde Bonono. The struggle of South Africans is also our struggle! Internationalize it!
