Walter Rodney: The Groundings with my Brothers
In this classic collection of essays and speeches, the Guyanese revolutionary intellectual Walter Rodney develops a radical understanding of Black Power, anti-colonial struggle and African liberation. Drawing on his political work in Jamaica, particularly his engagement with Rastafarians and the urban poor, Rodney argues that intellectuals must learn from and work alongside oppressed people rather than speak on their behalf. The book connects struggles in the Caribbean and Africa to a wider international movement against racism, capitalism and imperialism.
