SOLIDARITY STATEMENT

ABM WC condemns today’s evictions at E – Section, Khayelitsha carried by Transnet, we are so disappointed by the Magistrate who granted such eviction order without taking into consideration of the impact of the eviction order.

It is so disappointing to see that there are still Magistrates in this country who issues eviction order that leads lead to homeless, as we believe that it is the responsibility of the court to ensure that the human dignity is respected and protected ( an eviction that lead to homelessness that undermines the human dignity). The owner of the house who was evicted today she does not have any alternative accommodation and as a results of that today she is going to sleep out side her house.
