Oppose the DA budget that will be passed tomorrow – 8th June 2011

On the 4th of June 2011 Abahlali beseMjondolo of the Western Cape organized a meeting with community based organizations which took place at Khayelitsha ABM-WC offices.

The aim of the meeting was to organize a mass march which will go to the city of Cape Town on July 2011 to oppose the reactionary city of Cape Town Anti-Land invasion unit, which has been demolishing people’s structure with out any order from the court.

These community based Organizations participated in our meeting:

8. Gugulethu backyard dwellers
9. Democratic Left Front

Among other issues, we agreed to reject the DA budget of city of Cape Town which will be tabled tomorrow on the 8th June 2011, because the DA budget serves the interest of the rich.

And it was agreed that collectively we need to draw up our own Poor People’s Budget (PPB). We are going to engage in a democratic process and invite all struggling communities to participate in drawing up our (PPB) poor people’s budget.

We extend our invitation to all struggling communities, community based organizations and social movements to attend our plenary meeting on Saturday, 11th June 2011 at Hazeldene primary school at Mitchell’s Plain at 13:30 pm
