Ntuzuma residents protest against housing

More than 500 people burnt tyres in protest over a lack of housing in Durban’s Ntuzuma area on Monday.

There was a heavy police presence and crowds had been gathering in F Section since 4am.

Numerous protesters carried knobkerries, sticks and banners. One called for the resignation of local African National Congress councillor S’khumbuzo Ndaba.

People say they are living in mud and zinc structures, and want proper housing. – Sapa
