CDL: Support the ‘Listen to the People’ Campaign March

SUPPORT THE LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE CAMPAIGN MARCH!!!

This march is at the center of Johannesburg. We will march from Mary Fitzgerald Square to the Gauteng Premier office and back. A Memorandum of Peoples demands will be handed over to the Gauteng Premier.

Date: Saturday, 31st July, 2010.
Time: 10:30am SHARP to 2:00pm
Location: Gather at Mary Fitzgerald square, Newtown.

Organisations please mobilize support and bring banners, placards, etc. South Africa has one of the highest rates of civil protest in the world. People are waging struggles everyday to defend jobs, end exploitation and ensure the state delivers on its promises. The World Cup drowns out these voices struggling against inequality. Our rulers claim the World Cup unites South Africa but yet we are unemployed, going to bed hungry, are homeless, are getting paid slave wages, are lacking in safe and affordable transport…while a minority get wealthier. South Africa has become a democracy for the few.

Join us to hear the voices of the people speak truth to power!
On our united platform we declare:

No to the Olympic Bid!
No to Xenophobic Violence!
No to state repression!
Yes to meeting Peoples Needs!

Listen to the People!….build them houses, give them clean water, create jobs,
end hunger.

People vote for the ANC government but billions get spent on the World Cup, the
arms deal, on Black Economic Empowerment for a few, on letting corruption
destroy our democracy….and now billions for the Olympic Games! We say NO!
